Rio Group offers independent access to a wide range of systems and products which are guaranteed to help you keep your costs under control, minimise risk and guarantees a superior quality solution every time. Approved by an extensive list of specialist manufacturers we are considered a market leader in our field.

We believe in working with the best quality products and systems and are approved contractors for an extensive list of specialist manufacturers. We can offer guarantees, ranging from 10 to 25 years or more, on a variety of products and systems. The guarantee available depends on the product selected and the technical advice received. We can also assist clients who require Latent Defects insurance.

We also invest in our staff. Our team members are all are highly skilled and fully trained; all relevant staff are members of Construction Skills Certification Scheme and hold a CSCS; whilst all operatives are NVQ level 2/3 trained in mastic asphalt, built-up felt roofing, applied waterproofing and other specialist manufacturers' courses.

Rio Group work both independently, and alongside other contractors to ensure we provide the best quality service whilst adhering to your timelines, liaising closely with you throughout the duration of your project and completing the works to your specification

COMPANY POLICIES

HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT


In accordance with its duties under Section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and in fulfilling its legal obligations to employees and any member of the public who may be affected by its activities, the Directors of Rio Group Ltd have produced this statement of policy in respect of Health and Safety.

It is the aim of Rio Group to achieve a working environment which is free of work-related accidents, incidents and ill health and to this end we will pursue continuing improvements year on year.

In accordance with the duties of Rio Group, we undertake to discharge our statutory duties by:

  • Complying with applicable legal obligations, and with other requirements to which the company subscribes that relate to its OH&S hazards.
  • Identifying hazards in the workplace, assessing the risks related to them and implementing appropriate preventative and protective measures.
  • Setting and monitoring safety objectives.
  • Providing sufficient resource to maintain and manage a safe working environment.
  • Providing and maintaining safe work equipment.
  • Establishing and enforcing safe methods of work.
  • Recruiting and appointing personnel who have the skills, abilities and competence commensurate with their role and level of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that tasks given to employees are within their skills, knowledge and ability to perform.
  • Ensuring that technical competence is maintained through the provision of refresher training as appropriate.
  • Promoting awareness of health and safety and of good practice through the effective communication of relevant information, ensuring all persons within the organisation are made aware of their individual OH&S responsibilities.
  • Identifying opportunities and needs for continual improvement of OH&S performance and the prevention of injury and ill health.
  • Furnishing sufficient funds needed to meet these objectives.
  • Ensuring that health and safety will not be compromised for other objectives.
  • Ensuring that arrangements are in place to ensure the correct handling, storage and transportation of all articles and substances.
  • Implementing emergency procedures for in the event of a fire or other significant incident and ensuring that emergency exits are kept clear at all times.
  • All employees, on their part, are encouraged to contribute actively towards achieving a safe working environment.

Our Health and Safety policy will be reviewed annually to monitor its effectiveness and to ensure it is in line with current legislation and reflects the requirements of the company.

This statement is to be read in conjunction with the arrangements, procedures and guidance that together form the Health and Safety policy for Rio Group.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT


Rio Group is a specialist company which provides for installation, repair and maintenance for:

  • Waterproofing membrane systems
  • All types of asphalt and bitumen based surfacing materials
We recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment in terms of the use of raw materials, emissions to air and water, and waste generation, and seek to minimise this as far as is reasonably practicable.

Rio Group is committed to:

  • Driving continual environmental improvement by ensuring effective management of our environmental impacts and implementing Environmental Management Systems in compliance with EH ISO 14001:2004
  • Developing, setting and monitoring environmental objectives, supported by targets to manage potentially significant environmental aspects.
  • Preventing pollution and reducing any adverse impact of the Group’s operations on the environment.
  • Developing meaningful performance indicators to measure resource use, waste and emissions to demonstrate efficient use of resources as well as promote environmental best practice.
  • Complying with applicable environmental legislation and standards and other requirements associated with the industry sectors in which we operate.
  • Training of staff, suppliers and sub-contractors to enhance awareness of relevant environmental matters.

It is the policy of Rio Group to:

  • Make efficient use of natural resources by conserving energy and water, minimising waste and recycling where possible.
Meet its duty of care requirements in relation to waste by ensuring the safe keeping, transportation and subsequent recovery or disposal of waste

  • Use recycled construction materials whenever these can be commercially justified.
  • Keep transport use to a minimum and regularly service vehicles to maintain their efficiency.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure they recognise and reduce the environmental impact of their products and transportation.
  • Co-operate with the communities in which we operate.
  • Co-operate with the Government, regulatory bodies and other interested parties with the shared vision of being a good and trusted neighbour.
Rio Group will review this policy on an annual basis, taking account of any changes within legislation and our organisation, and other factors. We will communicate this policy to all our employees and ensure that they are given appropriate training to raise awareness of environmental issues. Rio Group will make this policy available when requested to interested parties including members of the public.
