• Park Avenue Cemetery – Public Footpath Resurfacing Works

  • Sheffield

  • Dinnington St John’s Town Council

Works carried out by Rio Surfacing involved the asphalt/macadam resurfacing of the main site entrance and pathway areas, which were constructed with block paving. As part of a health and safety review it was identified that the aged paving had become uneven leaving multiple trip hazards across the site. Existing kerbs and edgings were removed and re-laid to new levels to accommodate revised falls and to gain an even and regular level.
The entrance area is approx. 275m2 and footpaths approx. 1600m2 in size, some areas of which support the occasional HGV traffic. All works were completed to an agreed phasing plan to ensure continuous access was maintained during construction.

Specification as below:

  • Removal of existing block paving and disposal off-site
  • Re-use/replace path edgings as required
  • Adjustment of all manholes and inspection covers where required
  • Levelling and regulation of existing sub base in preparation for new surfacing
  • Installation of asphalt/macadam road base and binder/base course layers
  • Installation of asphalt/macadam surface courses
  • Thermoplastic road markings to main entrance and parking areas
  • Removal of all waste material from site and making good to soft landscaping
