Following a wide-ranging car park survey that clearly showed the need for full resurfacing and extension for visitors, local workers and shoppers alike, Rio Surfacing were successful in our bid to add an extra 146 spaces, including EV charging points, drainage and attenuation infrastructure, structural retaining wall works and accessible spaces, along with the creation of a new bus stop at the entrance to serve the railway station. The scheme was then fully surfaced throughout.

These works primarily involved:

  • Full construction of new parking area over an area of 3800m2 including all ground testing, build up design and installation by our direct workforce.
  • Full 3-layer HGV specification asphalt surfacing throughout to accommodate all expected traffic use.
  • Complete lining in thermoplastic throughout including amendments to existing car park and bus stop lay down area.
  • Demolition of existing boundary wall and reclamation of bricks for reconstruction of a feature retaining wall in recognition of the site’s heritage and to strengthen existing features.
  • Supply and installation of HD concrete channel and cover units to accommodate power supplies for multi use options on the site.
  • Collaborative working with National Grid in providing the details required to overcome the new incoming power supply and multi-use possibilities.
  • Completion of archeologic overwatch to assist in investigations to the site’s history and possible presence of ancient artifacts in the locality.
  • Installation of new storm water drainage system with bypass interceptor and partial Sud’s compliant discharge system.
  • Full electrical installation including permanent lighting, provision of EV charger supply and relamping to existing aged columns.
