Rio were appointed by Savills to undertake the removal and replacement of the existing Mastic Asphalt waterproofing to the shoppers car park. The works covering 7,000 m²,consisted of removal of the existing Mastic Asphalt covering, replacement of central expansion joints and replacement waterproofing with a IKO Permapark Mastic Asphalt system.
To ensure footfall to the shops was unaffected during the refurbishment, only a limited number of spaces could be closed at a time therefore work had to be carried out in 5 phases over fourteen weeks. To do so we needed to increase the project time by two weeks to allow for the moving of fencing and barriers to each phase.
